CFIG Precision Agriculture Research

Optimising fertilizer rates according to production zone.

Peter and Alison Groves

Rotation : Canola 99 / Wheat 00 / Lupins 01 / Wheat 02

2002 crop and Variety : Arrino

Paddock Standard fertilizer: 90kg Agstar Extra + 50-80kg of urea + 40kg MOP.

Weed control: A) Pre emergent : 50g Logran B and 1.7L treflan
  B) Post emergent : 1L 24D Amine (after 5 leaf stage)

Nitrogen and Potassium

Treatments of N and K are to be applied post seeding, using the air seeder bar to spread the fertilizer accurately across each plot without overlap.

The nitrogen rates have been determined assuming the following estimated yields in each zone.

Potassium
The potassium will be applied with the urea along the plots.

Measurement of response.
The trial paddock will be flown over by Air Agronomics (2M resolution) to give indication of biomass response to nitrogen rates.

Plots will be harvested according to production zone with a weight trailor at harvest.
