Phosure Field Day
Protecting our grain from pests is one of the biggest
battles facing growers. Success means we keep our clean and green image. Failure
means $5 per tonne per fumigation in extra costs for growers, not to mention our
reputation here and overseas.
Our key weapon is ensuring pests don't
become phosphine resistant by making sure that this important pesticide is used
properly.
The CBH Group is working together with industry groups in
Western Australia on 'Phosure', a campaign to prolong the life of phosphine in
order to save growers and the industry significant costs associated with
switching to alternative fumigation methods.
CBH are currently looking
for hosts in various areas to hold a workshop on their property. All you need is
a sealed silo and an area close by (preferably a workshop or shed) that we can
escape from the weather.
By holding or attending this free workshop, you
will gain valuable knowledge on how to ensure you can effectively fumigate
on-farm and control low level phosphine resistant insects.
As part of
the workshop, you will receive . . .
- A professional trainer on
site
- Free On Farm Grain Storage Management Kit and Phosure Booklet
- Free sealed silo check and fumigation
- Demonstration of safer sealing
techniques
- Demonstration of how to gauge if the fumigation has been
successful
- A free resistance test if you bring a grain insect sample on the
day
For more information on the above 'Phosure' field day, contact
Grain Protection Co-ordinator or your local CBH Group
Office.
