CFIG Precision Agriculture Research

Deep ripping yellow sandplain to overcome compaction layer and optimising N and K rates according to production zones.

Rotation: Canola 99 /Wheat 00 /Pasture 01 /Wheat 02 /Lupins 03

2002 crop: Arino Wheat

Paddock Standard fertilizer: 130kg Agstar Extra + 70L Flexi N


Treatments:
Primary treatments deep ripping of the yellow sand plain. This will be done across the working and the paddock will be sown as usual.
Post seeding treatments N and K will be applied in each production zone to reflect the potential yield of each zone (High Medium and Low)

Nitrogen and Potassium

Treatments of N and K are to be applied post seeding at high medium and low rates to reflect the potential of each zone.

The nitrogen rates have been determined assuming the following estimated yields in each zone.

#planned N rates were 10, 35, 70 kg but have increased since 49 units applied at seeding.

Suggested randomisation : Low, Medium, High, Low, High, Medium

Measurement of response.
The trial paddock will be flown over by Air Agronomics (2M resolution) to give indication of biomass response to nitrogen and potash rates.

Plots will be harvested according to production zone with a weight trailor at harvest and utilising yield mapping technology.
